In an announcement that has left many residents bracing for a day without electricity, Kenya Power has confirmed a planned power outage on Sunday, October 8, 2023. The blackout, scheduled to last between six to eight hours, is part of routine maintenance efforts and will affect three counties: Nairobi, Homa Bay, and Migori.

In the bustling capital city of Nairobi, the power will be cut from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., affecting areas such as Lusaka and Baba Dogo. Residents are advised to plan their day accordingly to minimize the impact of the outage.

Meanwhile, in the counties of Homa Bay and Migori, the blackout will be slightly shorter, lasting from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. In Homa Bay, residents of Homa Bay town, Sindo, and Nyandiwa should prepare for the outage. Similarly, in Migori, the areas affected will be Awendo town, Kehancha, and Makairo.

Kenya Power has assured residents that these planned power interruptions are crucial for routine maintenance. The aim is to ensure the stability and reliability of the power supply across these regions. As inconvenient as these blackouts may be, they are a necessary step in ensuring the long-term efficiency of power supply in these areas.
